CONCEPTJPN ENG

The expansion plan of "Edomae Charcoal Grill kemuri" to Shanghai, China, symbolizes the fusion of Japanese tradition and modernity, as well as the integration of Chinese and Japanese cultures. This project embodies the philosophy of the Japanese owner, who values relationships, cooperation, and connections among people. The architectural design adopts shapes reminiscent of hemp rope, where individual strands come together to form a strong bond, visually representing this ideology. The materials used in the construction reflect the traditional elements long utilized in both Japan and China, adding cultural depth and warmth. Moreover, the exterior is covered in glass, reflecting the image of Japan as seen from abroad. Inspired by the movie "Kill Bill," the design uses red as the key color to enhance visibility while emphasizing the cultural connection between China and Japan, and evoking the dynamic scenes of bloodshed in the movie. Thus, the Shanghai expansion plan of "Edomae Charcoal Grill kemuri" is a unique and innovative approach that skillfully combines tradition and modernity, Japanese and Chinese cultures. The design and concept of the restaurant offer more than just a dining experience to its visitors but also serve as a bridge between different cultures.
